Meet The Creator
Hi, I’m Bronwyn, creator of The Talking Circle.
I’d like to share with you the story of how and why I decided to create my unique Talking Circle Game.
It was March 2020….I was in a restaurant with my daughter Jessica (pictured with me). We were talking about what we wanted to change in our life after the lockdowns.
Jessica said “I’d love for our family to share deeper, more meaningful conversations at our gatherings.”
That's When I Had My “Wait...What?" Moment.
As I reflected on what Jessica said, I realised she was right (she often is!) I promised to find a resource to help our family to share deeper conversations.
After hours researching online, I ordered a stack of popular and promising conversation card games.
When they arrived, I was shocked to find so many potentially embarrassing and triggering questions.
None of the games were designed to create a safe space of mutual trust for people to listen to each other and to open up and be their authentic self.
The "Aha!" Moment That Changed Everything!
It dawned on me while working one early morning, I could design a card game, based on the strategies I’ve used in my counselling practice for 25 years.
So I spent a year designing The Talking Circle.... (Yep..it took THAT long!)
I wanted to create an empowering card game that distilled the essence of what I knew worked in my counselling practice.
My unique game design for The Talking Circle Game creates a safe space for everyone to open up and share on a deeper level. It invites you to say what’s on your heart and mind, while having everyone’s undivided attention.
It transforms conversations into “aha” and “wow, that’s amazing!” moments of connection and togetherness.
Jessica and I then spent two years testing the card game with hundreds of people of all ages and from all backgrounds and in all kinds of social situations.
We’ve been greatly encouraged by the positive feedback we’ve had from people who played the card game with their partner, their date, their family and friends...and with strangers who quickly became friends.
My dream for The Talking Circle Game is to change the world for the better, one conversation at a time.
